Original woodblock print by unidentified Edo-artist - Japan - 1862.
A scene with several Kabuki-actors (-families) represented, in "a Foolish Fight", together and/or with little creatures representing Good and Evil.
Left sheet of a triptych.
The actor's (family) names in the cartouches at the top: Ichikawa, Kataoka Ninzaemon, Sawamura Tanosuke, Ichimura Hazaemon, Ichikawa Sinsja, Seki Sanjuro.
The Good-Evil creatures present a Tengu-mask to Sawamura Tanosuke, and try to undress actor Kataoka Ninzaemon.
The print is not signed, not dated, and has no censor's seals (nor the triptych). Maybe not surprising seen the satirical nature of this print.
On a Japanese washi paper. Paper-loss top-left repaired. Original without backing.
Size is 24,5x 35,5cm.
In collection of University Tokyo Waseda under number 012-1236 and 012-1106.
Other 2 parts of the triptych under number 012-1234 and 35.
I used 2 scans to cover the complete oban-size, pictures might show the copy/paste-lines or irregularities.
Will be sent under card-boards, well protected, and fully insured.
